LEWISTON – Mona Knowlton Marsh, 72, died Sunday, Sept. 26, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Chesterville, Nov. 22, 1931, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Knowlton, she attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1951.

She became a registered nurse after graduating from the Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. On Dec. 27, 1947, she married David D. Marsh of Auburn. For many years she was active in the United Methodist Church of Auburn and the Nurses Alumni Association of CMMC.

Her adult years centered on home and family. Her life was small by many standards, but rich with the things that brought her joy – children, church, baking, knitting, friendships and long walks. She was a ready-listener, a gentle spirit who did her best work quietly and without any expectation of recognition or reward.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David; four daughters, Karen Albert, and husband, Ronald of Poland, Paula LaRoche, and husband, Lawrence of Auburn, Kimberly Marsh, and husband, Michael Daley of Portland and Patricia Groves, of Auburn; two sons, David Marsh Jr., and wife, Linda, of Sabattus and Steven Marsh, of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Emily Albert, Lauren and Ben LaRoche, Joel and Molly Daley, Jacob Groves and David, Brian and Sarah Marsh; sister, Mary Clukey, of Lisbon Falls and a brother, William Rice, of Dennis, Mass.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Charles Rice, and granddaughter, Beth Marsh LaRoche.
