FARMINGTON – Sandy Laurel River, licensed acupuncturist, opened an acupuncture office at 193 Front St. in downtown Farmington on Sept. 21.

River offers individual acupuncture therapeutic sessions, and she facilitates group sessions for the purpose of smoking cessation and weight loss.

River graduated from Tai Sophia Institute, which was formerly the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, in 1997. She is a licensed and certified acupuncturist, Tellington Ttouch practitioner and Chinese herbalist. She has been both on TV and radio and has taught publicly as well as at the Tai Sophia Institute in Maryland; in the national program for Tellington Ttouch; at Mount Saint Joseph’s in Waterville, as well as at many of the health-related and hospital sponsored support groups in Maine.

River is a member of Doctors Speakers Bureau, a nonprofit group of dedicated health care experts who donate their time to speak in the community on health care issues.
