AUBURN – Alice N. Davis, 86, formerly of 19 Grey Birch Dr., Augusta, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Clover Manor Health Care in Auburn, after a long illness.

Born in Danvers, Mass., March 7, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Louisa (Ouimette) Nadeau, she was the wife of Francis A. Davis for 32 years. She was a prior resident of Manchester, Kissimmee, Fla. and Danvers, Mass.

She had been employed at the Augusta State Hospital as a nurse, until her tragic automobile accident when she was 42 years of age and was paralyzed on her right side. Because of this accident, she became very strong-willed and independent and a little spit-fire right to the end of her days. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Gladys Keene, of Manchester, and Irene Bailey and Frances Whitaker Wright, both of Beverly, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Esther Davis, of Peabody, Mass.; her brothers, Ernest Nadeau, of San Diego, Calif., James Nadeau, of Salem, Mass., and Lawrence Nadeau, of Manchester, Conn.; sisters, Irene Trodahl, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Ann Mohr and Patricia White, both of Wenham, Mass., and Bernadette Primer, of Beverly, Mass.; granddaughters, Donna Rousseau, Susan Hilton, Kathy Davis and Meagan Whitaker; grandsons, Michael and Todd Keene, Zach and Joe Whitaker and John Davis; three great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. Davis; her son, George A. Davis; parents, Joseph and Louisa Nadeau; two sons-in-law, William Keene and Charles Bailey; and several brothers and sisters.
