John Kerry has changed his position on the war in Iraq four times in less than 30 days. First, he stands by his vote to go to war in Iraq, then he says he doesn’t. Then, Kerry says given what we now know he would still vote for the war in Iraq. Then, in a recent speech, he says it’s the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place.

It is frightening that a man aspiring to be commander in chief of the United States demonstrates such doublemindedness.

Imagine what our armed forces and those of our coalition allies, whose lives are on the line in Iraq, must be thinking, not to mention other allies who are being asked to join us. How can these people gain confidence from such a man of mixed messages? Our enemies, the terrorists, are the only ones gaining confidence from such inconsistencies.

President Bush has consistently told us since Sept. 11 that the United States is going after the terrorists and the state sponsors of terrorism, and he is leading us just that way. The president also made it very clear that this war on terrorism was going to be long and costly. It has been.

I’m grateful it’s being fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, not here in the United States.
