AUBURN – The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce and the Central Maine Community College is offering an employee development program to improve customer relations.

A Customer Service Excellence Certificate class will run Thursdays, Oct 7-28 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Central Maine Community College, Auburn. Cost is $195 and includes materials.

The first module is: What is Customer Service?

It is understand the importance of creating a culture of customer service by identifying good and bad customer experiences and learning the basics of creating a culture of customer service.

The second module is: Communication is a Two-Way Street.

Students will learn to communicate with customers using tested techniques in a variety of media channels.

The third module is: Customer Expectations.

Skills include learning to establish customer expectations; understanding how to live up to customer expectations; and developing your own service standards.

The fourth module is: Quality Service Under Pressure.

Learn how to “own” the customer’s problem; explore techniques to deal with difficult situations; and identify and learn how to eliminate negative customer service language.

The course is facilitated by Jim Handy. Formerly employed by L.L. Bean, he has more than 14 years of experience in customer service program design and training.
