NORWAY – The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project will host a gathering to honor survivors of domestic violence at noon Thursday, Oct. 7, in Witherall Park.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, a time to recognize domestic violence and honor those who have been affected by abuse. The gathering has been organized to give survivors of abuse a place to reflect and honor their own lives and the lives of others who have been affected by domestic violence.
The event will feature silhouettes from the Silent Witness Project – a collection of 40 red silhouettes that represent women that have been killed as a result of domestic violence. Each silhouette has a gold shield on her chest that tells the story of her life and death.
The Clothesline Project will also be on display – a collection of T-shirts that have been made by persons affected by domestic violence. The gathering is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Erin Brown at 795-6744, ext. 21.
