WATERFORD – The weather was spectacular for the fifth Fall Foliage Fun Run and 5K Road Race on Sept. 12 in Waterford Flats. All ages participated and the Bridgton Chamber of Commerce provided vendors for the chili cook-off, won this year by the Sudbury Inn in Bethel.

The One-Mile Fun Run had 24 participating. Steven Marco of Harrison, 12, came in first with a time of 7:16 for the boys, and Morgan McClean, 12, of Bridgton, winning again this year with a time of 7:01 for the girls.

The 5K race had 124 runners this year and winning first place overall for the men was Kevin Floster, 16, of Bridgton, with a time of 17:50. For the women, Brianne Bailey, 14, of Andover, came in first with a time of 21:36. Second and third places for the men went to Miles Bartlett, 16, of Bridgton, with a time of 17:54 and Chris Gatchell, 18, of Waterford, with a time of 18:31. For the women, Deb Barry, 26, of Boston, came in second with a time of 21:59 and Keeley Tobler, 25, of Medford, third with a time of 22:10.

Martha Eaton was race coordinator. Door prizes were drawn after the race.

The proceeds from the chili cook-off and the race go to the Tony Waldeier Scholarship Fund, benefiting graduating Waterford seniors each year. This year, five scholarships were awarded, for a total of $2,500.
