LIVERMORE FALLS – Police have expanded into the rooms formerly used for town government functions now that the town office has moved upstairs in the municipal building.

Police have gone from about three rooms to nine rooms, plus a training area and a break room.

“It feels good,” Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday. “It’s a bigger place. Dispatchers are ecstatic to finally get some daylight.”

Dispatchers have moved into the front office where clerk Dawn Young used to serve customers.

“I like the space,” dispatcher Vicki Worth said. “It’s going to be nice once they get everything set up.”

Town custodian Ron Morris took down the letters spelling out “Livermore Falls Town Office,” which will be replaced by a sign for the new entrance to police quarters.

The entrance to the station is now handicapped-accessible.

Steward has the office formerly occupied by sewer clerk Faith Nichols. Lt. Tom Gould has moved into the office formerly occupied by Treasurer/Town Clerk Krystal Flagg.

Both men previously shared a room.

Now their former office will be used by the probation and parole office.

The old dispatch office is being used as a booking room. There is also an evidence room.

The room formerly used by the assessor is now the file room.

What was the code enforcement officer’s room is being used as an interrogation room, which will be set up with video recorders to record interviews.

The room that was used by the town manager is now being used by officers.

The station now has two holding cells.

“Everybody’s got space now,” Steward said.
