I have just watched the first presidential debate, and it seems to me that Sen. Kerry knows more about what has been happening in Iraq and around the world – as well as in our own country – than President Bush does.

I have the deepest admiration for the American men and women in Iraq, and I want to elect the person who will bring them home safely. I want my children and future grandchildren to grow up in a world where our country is respected, a world where they can honestly be proud to be an American.

Having the power our country has brings with it an enormous responsibility, and that includes the responsibility to lead with judgment, intelligence and foresight, with the long picture always in mind.

The performance of the two candidates in debate convinced me deeply that John Kerry is the more mature and thoughtful candidate, and the person who can bring our soldiers home.
