WILSON’S MILLS – County Commissioner Fred Kennard of Rumford was the speaker at the Oxford County Municipal Officers meeting on Sept. 22.

The meeting, attended by municipal officials from throughout the county, was preceded by a supper.

Kennard addressed the Oxford County budget and initiated a discussion of Question 1, the Palesky Tax Cap. A commissioner since 1994, Kennard expressed concern over the need for solutions to issues of personnel, particularly retaining trained personnel in law enforcement and dispatch.

He also discussed the chronic shortage of beds at the jail, the balancing of many budget priorities and the future of the Oxford County Airport.
