STRONG – The Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Rail Road, along with the Strong Parks Committee, has revived the Ghost Train. The Ghost Train will ride the rails on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Dill Woods in Phillips. The first train will pull out of the station at 6:45 p.m., and tickets will be sold until 9 p.m. Organizers are seeking volunteers to help out with scenes or with general operations. People interested in volunteering are asked to call Sue Ellsworth at 684-4520 or 639-3264. Mt. Abram High School students are welcome to help as part of their community service requirement for graduation. Passengers experience a ride down the narrow-gauge railroad while viewing some hauntingly good scenes. Refreshments will be on sale at the station. The fund-raiser will benefit the Lance Cpl. Scott Paul Park and the R.L. & R.S. Railroad.

Fiddlers playing for contradance

FARMINGTON – A contradance will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the West Farmington Grange Hall. Music will be provided by the Franklin County Fiddlers. A class to learn the basics or to brush up on skills will be held at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 or $10 maximum for a family.
