BATH – Danielle Lavoie took a cross from Marina McDonald and found the back of the net late in the second half to lift Lewiston to a 2-1 victory over Morse in a KVAC field hockey matchup Thursday.
The Shipbuilders (2-9) held a 1-0 advantage at the half before the Blue Devils (5-8) rallied back. Amanda Wentworth also scored for Lewiston to round out the tally. Katie Grant made 13 saves in net to record the win.
Kate Connolly scored the lone goal for Morse with an assist from Lindsey Laamann, while Courtney Guth turned back 13 shots in net.
Oxford Hills 1, Gardiner 1
SOUTH PARIS – Alex Fish scored a goal with 18:04 left in the first half to give Gardiner the early lead over Oxford Hills in KVAC field hockey action Thursday.
The goal would not hold up though as Alicia Flick converted a crossing pass from Brianna Tompson with three minutes left in the half to knot the score at 3-all.
Both Val Seams (16 saves), and Erica Berry (eight saves) would tighten up their defense, not allowing another goal through a pair of overtime periods.
G-NG 1, Wells 0
GRAY – Crista Carlson scored the game’s only goal in the second half to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 1-0 win over Wells in field hockey play.
Carlson’s lone goal came off a scramble in front of the Wells goal which she was able to slap home for the win.
Samantha Bishop made six saves to register the win, while Wells keeper Moranda Maroni also recorded six saves.
Poland 5, Waynflete 1
POLAND – Amanda Plummer scored the first of her two goals just two minutes into the game to give Poland the only goal they would need as the Knights (4-9) downed Waynflete 5-1 in WMC field hockey play Thursday.
Plummer scored the goal unassisted, depositing it in the lower left corner from about 12 feet out. Brittany Copp, Becky Lindquist and Chelsea Gerard each chipped in with a goal apiece to account for the final score.Elsie Cummings turned back three shots in the win.
Abigail Chance scored the Flyers’ (0-10-1) lone goal.
Skowhegan 6, EL 1
SKOWHEGAN – Becca Roy and Katie Lapage netted two goals each to lead Skowhegan to a 6-1 victory over Edward Little in KVAC field hockey action Thursday.
Courtney Venott and Zara Saydjan also tallied for the Indians (12-1) to complete the scoring. Carlie Evans made 16 saves in net to notch the win.
Katie Bonney scored the Eddies’ (8-5) lone goal with an assist from Kristin Keene. Katie Ouellette was busy in net for EL, turning away 37 of 43 shots.
Girls’ soccer
St. Dom’s 2, Traip 1
KITTERY – Brittane Michaud converted a feed from Krissy Ouellette in the 18th minute of the second half to lift St. Dom’s to a 2-1 win over WMC rival Traip in girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
Autum Bell tallied an unassisted goal in the first half, giving the Saints (8-2-1) a lead they would not relinquish.
Danielle Theriault made four saves to record the victory.
The Rangers (3-6-1) lone goal came in the second half on an unassisted goal by Tanya Veilleux.
Falmouth 7, Poland 0
FALMOUTH – Ashley Dragos and Hannah Monn each scored a pair of goals Thursday to propel Falmouth to a 7-0 romp over Poland in WMC girls’ soccer action.
Olivia Rowse, Lindsay Lanouette and Suzanne Bruen also tallied for the Yachtsmen (9-1-2) to complete the scoring. Rachel Bennett needed only one save in net to preserve the shutout.
Erica Bellinger handled netminding duties for the Knights (0-12), turning back nine shots.
Boys’ soccer
Rangeley 4, Buckfield 0
BUCKFIELD – Tyler Philbrick and Justin Gallant scored a goal apiece to lead Rangeley to a 4-0 victory over Buckfield in boys’ soccer Thursday.
Seth Jani and Steven Vansoeren also added a goal each for the Lakers (7-1-2). Kent Madeira made nine saves for Rangeley.
Telstar 2, Winthrop 1
WINTHROP – Matt Zinchuck fired a shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the upper right corner with 1:09 remaining in the second overtime to lift Telstar to a 2-1 win over Winthrop in boys’ soccer action Thursday.
Zinchuck also tallied for the Rebels (7-3-1) in the first half to complete the scoring. Terry Collins made eight saves in net to notch the win. Dave Zimmerman scored the Ramblers’ (2-5-5) lone goal with just over nine minutes remaining in regulation.
Mike Gingras turned away nine shots in net for Winthrop.
