CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association will officially inaugurate its new trap shooting range during Sugarloaf Homecoming Weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

A shoot to be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 9 and 10. The shoot is open to CVOA members and the public.

The range, which is off Route 27 north of the Carrabassett Valley Sanitary District, has been under construction for several years, and members just recently finished installing a new automatic trap machine.

The range has been developed on land leased from the Sanitary District, and a rifle range is in the process of being moved to accommodate the expansion of the trap range.

To promote the new facility, nonmembers will not be charged for use of the range, but there will be a charge of $5 per 25 rounds to cover the costs of clay pigeons and equipment.

There will be some ammunition available for sale, but participants are asked to bring their own if possible.

Neal Trask of CVOA will chair the event.

For more information, Trask may be contacted at 235-2732 or by e-mail at [email protected]
