KINGFIELD – First Selectman John Dill sounded disappointed when he reported last week’s turnout for a special public meeting about the Palesky tax-cap proposal. Approximately 15 people attended the Sept. 30 meeting, and many of them had a connection to town government, he said.

In other town news, eight people were appointed to the Comprehensive Planning Committee. Jack McKee, Bob Brown, David Guernsey, Marianne Stevens, Bill Gilmore, Bill Huston and Joseph Ray accepted seats on the committee at the town selectmen’s sparsely attended meeting Monday, Dill said.

The town is looking for volunteers for two other committees: one a “traffic-calming” committee and one to consider uses for the former superintendent’s office. Residents interested in either of these committees can contact Dill at the Town Office.

More than 50 gallons of hazardous waste were collected during Kingfield’s hazardous waste collection day, he said.

A meeting of the Kingfield/New Portland Transfer Station will start at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the New Portland Town Office.
