RUMFORD – Theresa M. Gaudet, 84, of Spruce Street, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Rumford Community Home.
She was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Rumford, a daughter of Emile and Angelina Perry Cloutier. She was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.
She was employed as a switchboard operator for the telephone company for several years.
On July 23, 1943, she married Benjamin J. Gaudet. Theresa and her husband, Benny, and sister, Pauline, owned and operated Knox Street Variety for several years.
She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Catholic Church and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Benjamin Gaudet; a daughter, Paula Puiia and her husband, Carlo, of Rumford; a son, Steve Gaudet and his wife, Barbara, of Rotunda West, Fla.; a sister, Pauline Cloutier of Rumford; a brother, John Cloutier of Rumford; five grandchildren, Stevie, Suzanne and Matt Gaudet, and Jessica Casey and Ryan Goodwin; and four great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Cooper Gaudet, and Emma and Ethan Casey.
She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Harris Cloutier.
