EXETER, N.H. – Anne (Cannamela) LaRosa, of Hampton, N.H., died Friday, Oct. 8, at Exeter Hospital, Exeter, N.H.

She was the widow of Paul LaRosa.

A native and former New Britain, Conn., resident, she graduated from New Britain High School, Class of 1935; moved to Winthrop in 1957, then lived in Leeds for 30 years before moving to New Hampshire one year ago to live with her daughter’s family.

Anne was a former secretary at the American Hardware Company. Anne and Paul were entrepreneurs. They owned and operated a number of businesses in Connecticut and Maine including, the Savoy Market on Broad Street in New Britain, LaRosa’s Cabins on the Berlin Turnpike, and the Winthrop Motel in Winthrop.

After retiring in 1973, Anne remained active, enjoying gardening, politics and reading. She was a former member of, and was married at the South Congregational Church in New Britain. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Maria Pierson, and her husband, Bruce, of Hampton, N.H.; a brother, Sebastian “Subby” Cannamela, of New Britain, Conn.; four sisters, Priscilla Burniston, of Annandale, Va., Freda LaRosa, of Kensington, Conn., Dr. Dolly McCall, of Milford, Conn., and Mary Morales, of Kensington, Conn.; a grandson, Daniel Pierson, of Hampton, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
