PORTLAND – The wedding of Jody Marie Giambattista and John Frank Raio was held at 1 p.m. on June 19 at St. Joseph’s Church in Portland. The Rev. Don Bosco Duquette officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Raio is the daughter of John and June Giambattista of Rumford. Mr. Raio is the son of Kathy and Jim Burnham of Otisfield.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a floor-length diamond white satin gown with cap sleeves, fitted bodice and tiny buttons fastened down the back. The A-line skirt was accented with light pink embroidery and she carried a bouquet of fresh roses in various shades of pink.

Katy Dixon, friend of the bride, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Jennifer Giambattista, sister of the bride, Meredith Giambattista, cousin of the bride, and Leah Madigan and Jessica MacDonald, friends of the bride. Alex Durland, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

Nate Dayken, friend of the bridegroom, performed the duties of best man and ushers were Chris Raio, brother of the bridegroom, and Gerald McArthur, Joseph White and Rhett Eldridge, friends of the bridegroom. Tyler Giambattista, nephew of the bride, and the couple’s son, Brett Raio, served as ring bearers.

A reception followed at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, after which the couple traveled to Boston for a week. They are residing in Scarborough.

The bride is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in education.

The bridegroom received a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Southern Maine and is a program coordinator at Youth Alternatives in Portland.
