OLD ORCHARD – The fourth show of the high school marching band season, sponsored by the Maine Band Directors Association Inc., was held Oct. 9 at Old Orchard Beach High School. Bands performing were Edward Little, Lawrence, Leavitt, Lewiston, Portsmouth, Sanford, South Portland, Westbrook and Old Orchard Beach.

Lawrence and Sanford high schools received an overall rating of one star. Both schools received two stars for drum major. Lawrence also received two stars for color guard, and Sanford received two stars for percussion. Edward Little High School, Leavitt Area High School, Lewiston High School and Westbrook High School received an overall rating of two stars. Westbrook received three stars for percussion. Old Orchard Beach High School, Portsmouth High School and South Portland High School received an overall rating of three stars. Old Orchard Beach and Portsmouth received four stars for percussion.

The last regular season show of the marching band will be 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, hosted by Leavitt Area High School, at Libby Football Field in Turner Center. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens, with a family price of $15.

Leavitt Area High School band will perform a show that consists of four songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” The performance uses lots of color, intricate field maneuvers and solos to bring the drama of the show to life on the football field. The 21st annual Marching Band Finals, sponsored by the Maine Band Directors Association, will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at Lawrence High School in Fairfield beginning at 4 p.m. Thirteen bands from Maine and New Hampshire will perform.
