CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Phyllis Isabel McKenna, 83, was born in Lewiston, Oct. 13, 1920, to the late Alver M. and Hattie M. (Poland) Pitcher. She graduated from Lewiston High School and the Bryant and Stratton College in Boston. She was the wife of the late Frank McKenna, who died in December 1993, and sister of the late Ira B. Pitcher. A former resident Watertown and Newton, Mass., for many years, she lived in Bowdoinham and Wiscasset before moving to Arlington, Mass., in 2001.

She had been a member of the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset and of the Central Congregational Church, Newtonville, Mass., where she had been an active member of committees involved in community outreach. Mrs. McKenna enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cooking, music, birdwatching and most of all, her children and grandchildren. She died on Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, after a brief illness, with her family at her side.

She leaves five children, Stephen B. McKenna, of Lexington, Mass., Susan M. Love, of Pawtucket, R.I., Craig D. McKenna, of Newton, Mass., Bruce M. McKenna, of Arlington, Mass., and Martha L. McKenna, of Topsham; and nine grandchildren.
