The Verizon Foundation has given the Maine Council on Economic Education a $15,000 grant to help boost economic literacy.
Established in 1969, the council is a nonprofit organization that helps Maine schools teach about economics. The Verizon grant will help the group pay for teacher training, classroom materials and lessons posted on the council’s Web site.
Although the Maine Council on Economic Education has received money from the communications giant before, this is its largest Verizon grant.
The Verizon Foundation is a national charity group that works to enrich communities through technology, to create a skilled work force and to support programs on computer literacy.
