RUMFORD – A Rumford man was arrested again on burglary and theft charges in connection with the Oct. 4 burglary of Dunkin’ Donuts on Congress Street in Rumford.
Rodney A. Kneeland, 30, was charged with felony burglary and theft, and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and violating conditions of release. He was taken to Oxford County jail in Paris.
Kneeland had been free on bail awaiting an Oct. 5 arraignment in Rumford District Court that stemmed from his Sept. 13 arrest on felony burglary and theft charges.
Police allege that Kneeland, who turned himself in at the Rumford Police station on Sept. 13, first burglarized Dunkin’ Donuts on Aug. 22. At that time, he was still employed by Dunkin’ Donuts. He was subsequently fired after his arrest, said investigating Detective Sgt. Stacy Carter.
More than $3,300 taken in that burglary has yet to be recovered. None of the $3,767 stolen in the Oct. 4 burglary has yet to be found either, Carter said Wednesday.
In the second burglary, Carter said that at 8:35 a.m. Oct. 4, the manager of Dunkin’ Donuts reported that the office had been broken into and money had been stolen.
“A check of their video surveillance tape revealed a suspect. Rodney Kneeland was identified from the video and arrested again,” Carter said. Kneeland was arrested the second time on Oct. 4.
Carter said that like the first burglary last month, a key was used to gain entry into the business.
