FARMINGTON – A multimedia concert, “Johannes, Clara and Robert: The Words of Brahms and the Schumanns in Letters, Music and Images,” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The concert will feature two new choral groups, the Nineteenth-Century Singers and the Camerata Choir, with guest artists Kate Reid, Lily Funahashi and Andrea Kierstead.

The hourlong concert is as part of the Connections and Contrasts Concert Series, which explores alternatives to traditional concerts.

“Johannes, Clara and Robert” presents the lives of Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann and Robert Schumann through their music and readings of their letters.

The main works on the program will be Brahms’ “Ziegeunerlieder” (Gypsy Songs) sung by the Nineteenth-Century Singers, with Steven Pane conducting and Funahashi as guest artist. Reid will perform songs by Clara Schumann and the Camerata Choir will perform Schumann’s “Der Traurige Jager.” Dan Robbins from Sandy River Players will direct the readings. The program will also feature images from the period.

Tickets are available at Mickey’s Hallmark or by calling 778-7072. Tickets cost $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and are free for UMF students with ID.
