Dear Sun Spots: I would like to challenge each of you to participate in our fourth annual Parade of Jack-O’-Lanterns. Put your creative talents to the test and work magic!
Please bring your work of art to Gracelawn Road, Auburn, in front of K & K Excavation, (just past the new St. Dom’s High School) on Friday, Oct. 22, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for display.
Please feel free to join in the festivities and bring family and friends to the amazing display of pumpkins on parade. Public viewing will take place Friday, Oct. 22, through Sunday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Once again, we are pleased to be the proud sponsors of the Maine Children’s Cancer Society. We will be taking voluntary donations and would appreciate your generosity. Please be sure to tune in to view the Parade of Jack-O’-Lanterns on Channel 11. Thank you. Please call Mrs. O. for more details at (207) 783-3701. – No Name, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: Love this column. It’s great to help others and it will be really appreciated if Sun Spotters can help us find yellow, double floribunda or Rugosa roses. This is the kind that builds its own hedge by sending out shoots. I can’t ever find pink or yellow ones in a nursery, but if anyone has any I’d be glad to pay for them.
Also, we are looking for an abandoned campground or land suitable for making a family campground. And, in addition, we need unwanted metal roofing. Please contact me at 65 Meadow Hill Road, Winthrop, ME 04364. – Joyce Buck, Winthrop.
Dear Sun Spots: Just to let you know that the “Beat the Clock” game show is on at 1 a.m. daily on the Game Show Network. – John, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: My 3-year-old daughter loves Johnny Damon of the Boston Red Sox. Where could I write to him for an autograph? Thank you. – T.G., South Paris.
Answer: For starters, you might want to contact the Johnny Damon Fan Club’s Web site at www.ourredsoxx.homestead.com/JohnnyDamon.html or via e-mail at [email protected]. In addition, you might also like to go to the Red Sox’s Web site at http://boston.redsox.mlb.com. If you click on the “kids” bar at the top right-hand side of your screen, you will go to a kid’s page that your daughter may like to check out along with you.
Dear Sun Spots: I love your column!
I enjoy walking. I use the track at a local school during nice weather. I am wondering if there is a place in the Lewiston-Auburn area with an indoor track that is available in the winter months for free or a fee. Thank you. – No Name, Lewiston.
Answer: Unfortunately, Sun Spots has not located any. Perhaps other readers out there may be able to assist you in your search or know off some within a reasonable distance to the Lewiston-Auburn area.
Dear Sun Spots: Whatever happened to Vince McMahon on SmackDown!? We never see him any more or his daughter and son. We enjoy wrestling but we also enjoyed seeing Mr. McMahon.
Answer: According to www.tvtome.com, Vince McMahon is married to WWE CEO, Linda McMahon, and they have two children, Shane and Stephanie.
McMahon once won the WWE heavyweight title on WWE SmackDown! He inherited the WWE (which was originally called the WWF, World Wrestling Federation) from his father, Vince McMahon Sr.
