JAY – A Canton man is the second person to be charged in a burglary at LaFleur’s Restaurant on Oct. 25, 2003. The suspects allegedly made off with an undisclosed amount of cash at that time.
Jay police Detective Russell Adams arrested Elijah S. Hutchins, 23, of Canton on Wednesday on a charge of burglary, Chief Larry White Sr. said.
Hutchins was taken to the Franklin County jail. He was being held Thursday on $1,000 cash bail and a probation violation.
Adams arrested Zachery Roy, 19, of Jay last week on two charges of burglary. One was in connection with the burglary at LaFleur’s Restaurant on Route 4, the same one with which Hutchins is alleged to be connected.
The other burglary charge Roy faces is in connection with a July burglary at an Oak Street home where a safe was taken, Adams said last week.
White said that Hutchins is not connected to the Oak Street residential burglary.
The Jay Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department are collaborating in the investigation, White said.
Adams and county Detective Tom White are continuing the investigation, and more arrests may be forthcoming, the chief said.
