BOSTON – Kelly Davis, a Junior Statesman of America delegate, attended the Democratic National Convention during vice presidential candidate John Edwards’ speech in July.

Davis, 15, completed the Junior Statesmen summer school program on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. The election symposium was held July 25 through 31 during the Democratic National Convention and was attended by more than 180 high school students.

Davis was the only JSA delegate from Maine and, in addition to attending the convention, she attended the Maine delegate breakfast where she met guest speaker Al Franken, Gov. John Baldacci and Rep. Tom Allen.

Other highlights included attending Edwards’ speech at the convention, meeting keynote speaker Barack Obama at a JSA luncheon and participating in student-run political debates.

Davis is the daughter of Scott and Holly Davis of Buckfield. She is a sophomore at Edward Little High School where she is a member of the band, chamber and show choirs, and runs junior varsity cross country. Davis is a 10-year student in both dance and piano.
