LEWISTON – There will be a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. All blood donated will go directly to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. All donors will receive an appreciation gift.

Make an appointment by contacting YMCA Wellness Director Doug McFarland at 795-4095 or stop by the YMCA at 62 Turner St. in Auburn to sign up. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be between the ages of 16 and 76 and have a photo ID with them on the day of the drive.

Blood is the “Gift of Life.” Every 17 seconds, someone somewhere is receiving a lifesaving transfusion. Six out of every 10 people will someday need blood or one of the four components of blood.

The drive is being administered by Maine Medical Center Blood Donor Program.
