AUBURN – James A. Harmon, 42, passed away at his home in Auburn Friday, Oct. 15, after a courageous battle with A.L.S.

He was born in Portland Aug. 21, 1962, the son of Harry Harmon Jr. and Sandra Haley Lewis.

He attended Cumberland and North Yarmouth Schools, and graduated from Maine Central Vocational Technical Institute. He was employed at Bath Iron Works until the onset of his illness.

He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his brothers at Katahdin Iron Works and North Haven Island. He also valued his friendship with his fellow workers at BIW.

Surviving are his mother, Sandra Lewis and her husband, Robert, of Belgrade; two daughters, Vanessa of Greene, and Daisey of Machiasport; four brothers, Harry “Skip” Harmon of Gray, Christopher, Kevin, Scott and his companion, Thelma Dixon, and her son, Calvin, all of Auburn; nephews, Pvt. Joseph, Joshua, Scott and Brian Harmon; nieces, Heather and Sheena; grandfather, Francis Haley of Bangor; aunts and uncles, Ann Calderwood of Bangor, and Amanda and Roland Moore of Cape Elizabeth; and many cousins.
