As senior citizens living on a fixed income, we have seen our property taxes rise each year. This past year, they have increased almost $200.

We have discussed the possibility of leaving, after over 30 years, the home and area we love due to the costs of remaining here.

The cost of living rises every time we go to the grocery store. It is a shame that the elderly have to make such choices like we and others are facing. We can’t help but wonder what new programs are needed that risk parents and grandparents losing their homestead? There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

My representative, Lois Snowe-Mello, has sponsored many bills that would lower property taxes for our senior citizens. We need Snowe-Mello to speak out for our seniors and enable them to live their remaining years with dignity and respect.
