Herb program

FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, in the Farmington Municipal Building. It will begin with refreshments and a social half-hour. The program at 1 p.m. will be a talk on herbs and their uses by Jeanine LeVigne. She was an apprentice with medicinal herbalist and author Corrinne Martin. LeVigne also has attended several workshops and lectures with various Maine herbalists, including Gail Edwards and Deb Soule of Avena Botanicals. She has studied and used herbs for the past 16 years. The public is welcome at all garden club programs.

Tax cap program

JAY – The Neighborhood Watch Group will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Community Building. All interested residents of Jay are being encouraged to attend the program on the proposed Palesky tax cap. It is sponsored by the Police Department. For more information, people can call Chief Larry White Sr. at 897-6766.

Mystery ride

NEW VINEYARD – The Historical Society will meet to go on a mystery ride at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20. People are being asked to take a bag lunch will them. All are welcome to attend.

Brooks to speak

INDUSTRY – The Franklin County Fireman’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Industry Fire Station, which is on Route 148. All members and guests are being urged to attend. Mike Brooks of Auburn who will talk about his experience in the Death Valley Marathon last summer. There will be refreshments, a drawing for the door prizes and an opportunity to tour the new station. All interested persons are welcome to attend.

Acoustic concert

FARMINGTON – Former Something will present an acoustic concert at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the University of Maine at Farmington’s Olsen Student Center. It is open to the public and sponsored by the Latte Landing.

Kingfield closure

KINGFIELD – The Town Office will be closed Thursday, Oct. 21, because the staff will be attending a mandatory vehicle-registration workshop.
