FARMINGTON – A proposal to convert a farm building into two one-bedroom apartments on Hammond Road was accepted by the Planning Board on Monday night. So was a proposal for making a self-storage unit into two-bedroom apartment on Maguire Street.

George Weeks discussed his site review application for changing a former saw mill into two one-bedroom apartments. The application was initially under question due to its insufficient distance from a road, but after being informed by Code Enforcement Officer Steve Kaiser that the site was grandfathered, board members voted to accept it.

William Marceau, a Planning Board member, said he would like to pursue the possibility of creating a two-bedroom apartment from a self-storage unit, which he says is no longer needed.

Board members questioned the number of parking spaces needed, but Marceau said the site had more than 15 spots.

Another site review application for the construction of a four-unit apartment building on High Street was also discussed. The board accepted it pending further legal advice on the issue of a particular driveway area.
