HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) -Hampton’s town manager is refusing to pay for a new district courthouse even if it means losing the facility to another community.

James Barrington has said it doesn’t make sense for the town’s taxpayers to foot the bill.

The current courthouse isn’t handicapped accessible. It was sprayed last month after it was infested with fleas. There’s also mold in the basement and employees have complained about allergies.

The state Legislature mandated a new courthouse in 1992. The town has suggested four temporary locations for a new court, but construction money and other funding issues remain as hurdles.
