FARMINGTON – A Harvard mind-and-brain researcher, Dr. Kurt Fischer, will speak at the University of Maine at Farmington in a program of special interest to educators, according to the college.

Fisher will speak at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, and 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the North Dining Hall, Olsen Student Center.

This is an opportunity to hear about what scientists are discovering about the brain’s organization, function and development and how it pertains to student learning. The program also will consider how children acquire language, think, reason and learn a variety of skills and knowledge, including reading, math and science.

Fischer directs the Mind, Brain and Education Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. His talks are free and open to the public.
