DIXFIELD – Town Manager Nanci Allard showed no reaction Monday night when Dixfield resident Bettina Martin asked selectmen to terminate Allard’s contract.
In weeks prior to the meeting, a handful of people gathered a reported 467 signatures of Dixfield voters who claimed to have lost confidence in the town manager.
Then, without fanfare in front of a sparse crowd Monday night in the library community room, Martin read a prepared statement.
It suggested that selectmen resolve the situation by acting on the petition immediately, paying Allard’s contract and benefits in full, and collecting her keys and computer password immediately.
The matter was not on the board’s agenda, but came up toward the end of the meeting in the second of two solicitations for public comment.
Chairman Eugene Skibitsky accepted the statement and its attached two-page list of 21 concerns from residents wanting Allard’s contract terminated. The list, however, did not detail the reasons behind the concerns.
Some of the concerns stated include:
• People are displeased over the way town business is conducted.
• The Water Department is a disaster.
• Allard does not cooperate with town committees (Finance, Water Advisory, etc.)
• Allard has lost new business (jobs, taxes) by being uncooperative.
The board then moved into a scheduled executive session to discuss a personnel issue.
When contacted after the board meeting, Allard said she had no comment on either the petition or the concerns, other than to say that the matter is now in the hands of selectmen.
