PARIS – The Paris Board of Selectmen will hold another special meeting Thursday to discuss efforts to build a new home for a Paris Hill couple.

The meeting will be held at the Paris town offices at 5 p.m.

The board discussed the matter at its regular meeting Oct. 12, when it authorized Community Concepts to seek bids for the project. Community Concepts is helping with the project, which is expected to cost about $45,000, most of which will be paid for with Community Development Block Grant funds.

On Oct. 13, the board learned Community Concepts expected the town to handle the bidding process. A special meeting was held Friday to reverse the earlier authorization.

On Tuesday, however, interim Town Manager Elisa Whiteley announced that selectmen will meet one more time to discuss the project. Community Concepts, she said, now wants to handle the bidding process.

“They’re more aware of all the (Community Development Block Grant) laws, regulations and everything,” Whiteley said.

Selectmen hope the project is completed before winter. One of the residents involved recently underwent major surgery and has had trouble returning home because the couple’s trailer is not handicapped-accessible. It’s also in substandard condition, officials have said.
