JAY – A debate for all candidates for Franklin County sheriff will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the Jay Middle School cafeteria. The debate is sponsored by the Jay School Department and the Jay Police Department.
The event is an opportunity for people to meet the three candidates and for candidates to address issues of concern. The participants are Sheriff Dennis Pike, Tom White and Albert Smith, who are all members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
The debate is open to all residents of Franklin County. The moderator will be Mike Simoneau, who is a teacher at Jay High School and a resident of Livermore in Androscoggin County.
Questions will be taken from Jay High School students and officials before the debate, but the candidates will not know the questions in advance.
Members of the audience will be given the last 20 minutes of the debate to ask questions of the candidates. The debate will start at 6 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
