LEWISTON – Michael W. Aube, U.S. Department of Agriculture rural development state director, announces Alden Turner of Windham has been named assistant to the state director.
Turner has an extensive background in rural community development, capacity building and related issues. His new duties include providing leadership and advice in identifying rural communities’ unique needs, identifying resources and rural issues, as well as working with Maine’s congressional offices to resolve key issues related to the state’s rural communities.
Turner will also develop procedures, instructions and guides to enhance and strengthen internal program operations and functions.
Turner has served 24 years with the USDA in Vermont and Maine and has held various positions, including county supervisor, empowerment zone coordinator and, most recently, senior community programs loan specialist in the Lewiston Area Office.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in resource economics and an associate degree in business management.
