WILTON – The Healthy Community Coalition is offering screenings and other services to women in Franklin County during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Besides helping women age 40 and older schedule mammogram, breast and cervical health exams, health workers will provide blood pressure, cardiac health risk assessments and cholesterol screenings. Every woman who schedules her appointment during the October event will be given a T-shirt, gift certificate and/or other items.

Services will be available at the following times and places:

• Stratton – Fotter’s Market, Friday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Farmington – Wal-Mart, Monday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Farmington – Hannaford Bros., Friday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Program Coordinator Jennifer McCormack, a registered nurse, will help women schedule their yearly appointments.

McCormack and other coalition staff will be available also to assist women with alternative funding sources for these screenings. Women age 40 and older, those who have no insurance or their insurance does not cover mammograms or Pap tests, or those who have a high deductible and meet income guidelines, may qualify to get free services through the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program. To enroll prior to the October events, call the program at 1-800-350-5180 and press 1.
