LEWISTON – La Recontre, a group that meets every first Friday of the month, will gather Friday, Nov. 5, at the Franco-American Heritage Center to once again celebrate its heritage, language and culture.

The group meets for one and a half hours a month. The goal is to speak only French during that time. There is a meal and entertainment at each of the gatherings. The group has grown to about 170 people.

This month’s meal will be presented by Rolly’s Diner and will feature tourtiere (pork pie), mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and carrots, rolls, beverage and warm apple crisp with cream. The cost is $6.50 per person. Reservations must be made ahead of time.

Entertainment for the November program will feature Franco-American storyteller, author, singer and composer Michael Parent. Born and brought up in Lewiston, Parent has entertained audiences across the country and his talent and humor.

Anyone wanting to join La Rencontre should call Claudette at 786-6936.
