LEEDS – The Leeds Historical Society will present a program of music from the Civil War Wednesday, Oct. 27, downstairs in the new Leeds Municipal Building.

Featured will be violinist Greg Boardman with Leeds vocalists Eileen Coyne and Gary Marston along with Bill and Barbara Grant.

The music has been selected with an eye toward making connections with articles and writings about some of those from the Leeds area who served in the war.

During this historical period, music reached a pinnacle of prduction, an impressive feat considering music was perpetuated primarily by the voices and instruments of ordinary individuals.

The initial introduction of a piece might have been by a minstrel or at a concert. Whether it was repeated depended upon families at home or troops in the field.

The public program will begin at 7:15 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
