WILTON – Albert Smith has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, most of it with the Franklin County sheriff’s office. He said this experience sets him apart from his opponents running for Franklin County sheriff.

His experience, he said, working for all three departments under the sheriff – dispatch, corrections and patrol – qualify him for the position. He also cited his degree in accounting and his 20 years of success as a dairy farmer while also working in law enforcement as examples of his unique capabilities.

Smith said he wants “the challenge of giving the county the hardest-working sheriff, to make the department the best it can be.”

He said he wants the most qualified people working for the county, to give the best service to the people of the county as quickly as possible. He also said he wants to run a more effective jail.

In addition, Smith said he would look for ways to provide those services for the least amount of money, making department heads accountable for their budgets. Providing the best training possible is also on his agenda.
