RUMFORD – The Rumford Public Library will host an evening with New Hampshire poet laureate John Perrault Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Perrault is a poet, songwriter, singer and author. He wrote the newly released book ‘The Ballad of Louis Wagner and Other New England Stories in Verse.”

The presentation will explore the nature of poetry – what is it anyway? – as manifested in the English and Scottish ballads, the song-poems of Burns, Dylan, Lennon and McCartney and the poems of Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes and Wes McNair among others.

Perrault will also read and sing selections from his recent book. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
