I support Rob Cameron, the Republican candidate for the seat in Senate District 14.

Spending increases should be capped at the rate of inflation based on the consumer price index or the worker wage index.

The Democrats have controlled the Maine Legislature for decades and have not put a cap on appropriations and spending tied to some index that each of us as individual citizens must live with every day. When revenues increased at 8 percent during the last fiscal year, the deficit was an alarming $195 million. If most Maine households experienced an 8 percent increase in yearly revenues, we certainly would be able to live with that pleasant circumstance. The current Legislature was unable to pass a balanced budget even with 8 percent increase in revenues.

We need change in legislative policy. Rob Cameron and his fellow Republicans will be able to effect that change.
