A large number of Maine’s voters intend to vote yes on the Palesky tax-cap question as a protest vote directed squarely at an ineffective state Legislature. Making a protest vote in this manner is not the most effective way to send a message to the representatives whom we have elected. The most effective protest vote that you can make is to vote for state senators and representatives who believe in fiscal responsibility and who understand that we don’t simply have a taxation problem. We clearly have a spending problem.

This election, the people of Auburn, Durham, New Gloucester and Poland have the opportunity to send a state senator to Augusta who will fight to lower taxes and to curtail wasteful spending in Maine. Her name is Lois Snowe-Mello.
