FARMINGTON – Andy Knox buried the first two goals on his only shots of the contest to send the University of Maine at Farmington to a 3-1 win over Becker in men’s soccer action Saturday.

Joe Conway recorded the third Beaver (8-6) goal, while Jay Tornblom converted a relay from Tyler Roser in the second half for Becker (4-9-1).

Middlebury 3, Bates 2

MIDDLEBURY, VT – John Rusten netted a pair of goals to lead Middlebury to a 3-2 win against Bates in men’s soccer on Saturday.

Philip Johnson and Dan Bradford had a goal apiece for Bates (8-3-1).

Middlebury’s (9-1-2) J.B. Greber found the back of the net on a pass from Winston Rains.

USM 3, UMass-Dartmouth 0

GORHAM – Adam Bial tailed two goals to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 3-0 victory over University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth (11-5) in men’s soccer on Saturday.

Andy Budelman scored a goal and had an assist for the Huskies (9-3-3). and Zach Rossignol had two assists.

UMF 6, Becker 1

FARMINGTON – Jodi Welch scored a pair of goals in the second half as the University of Maine at Farmington coasted to a 6-1 win over Becker in women’s soccer on Saturday.

Erin Campbell, Kelsey Burk, Erin Findlan and Bailly Hovey rounded out the scoring for the Beavers (9-5-3), while Devin Caron scored the lone goal for Becker (4-10-2).

Trinity 1, Bowdoin 0

BRUNSWICK – Nicole Mauger netted the game-winning goal at the 66:24 mark on a cross by Libby Franco as Trinity defeated Bowdoin 1-0 in a women’s soccer matchup on Saturday.

Middlebury 2, Bates 1

MIDDLEBURY, VT – Caity Abshere and Brittany Cronin scored a goal apiece to carry Middlebury to a 2-1 win against Bates in women’s soccer on Saturday.

Kim Alexander scored the lone goal for Bates (9-3-1). Els Van Woert made 10 saves for Middlebury (10-0-2).

USM 1, UMass-Dartmouth 1

NORTH DARTMOUTH – Andrea Mota scored the game-tying goal at the 84:30 mark as the University of Southern Maine and the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth battle to a 1-1 draw in women’s soccer.

Amanda Valeriani scored on a feed from Amanda Loomis for the Huskies (7-5-4).

Field hockey

Bowdoin 1, Trinity 0

BRUNSWICK – Hillary Hoffman netted the game-winning goal on a feed from Gessy LePage at the 20:16 mark to give Bowdoin a 1-0 victory against Trinity in field hockey.

Thomas 3, UMF 2

FARMINGTON – Meredith Arute nailed a goal with 3:56 remaining in double overtime to lift Thomas College to a 3-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in field hockey action Saturday.

Becky Christiansen had a pair of goals for the Beavers, while Amber Richard knotted up the game for the Terriers with four minutes remaining in regulation.

Middlebury 10, Bates 1

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Ashley Lyddane scored a hat trick as Middlebury remained undefeated with a 10-1 triumph over Bates in field hockey. Emily Read netted two goals.

while Nina Daugherty and Allison Smith had a goal and an assist each for Middlebury (11-0).

Allison Marshall scored the lone goal for Bates (3-10) unassisted.

Fitchburg State 2, USM 1

GORHAM – Jenn Kelley scored the game-winning goal with 3:04 left in the game to give Fitchburg State a 2-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in field hockey action

Kristen Frazier also scored for Fitchburg State (10-5). Southern Maine’s Teryn Clark scored the lone goal for the Huskies (3-15).
