As this campaign goes on, it is becoming more evident that John Kerry and his campaign are out of touch with the American people and reality.

First, Sen. Kerry asserted at the second debate that it appeared that himself, President Bush and Charlie Gibson were the only ones there in the $200,000-plus income bracket. Essentially. he asserted that everyone in the town-hall debate audience appeared to be middle class or poor. This is a very arrogant example of how he judges a book by its cover. Also, he keeps talking about how the rich are not paying their share of taxes, but he pays only 12 percent of his income in taxes when most people in his income bracket pay somewhere in the 30s.

Then both he and Sen. Edwards made it a point to remind the American people that the vice president’s daughter is a lesbian, a move that his campaign manager asserted was “fair game.” This was a calculated move designed to use Mary Cheney’s personal life to hurt the Bush campaign. When the Cheneys expressed their outrage, Elizabeth Edwards asserted the Cheneys were ashamed of their daughter.

Probably the worst act was Teresa Heinz Kerry’s assertion that Laura Bush probably never had a real job. When she remembered Mrs. Bush was a teacher and librarian, then she apologized. But isn’t being a mother a real job?

Kerry claims he is a regular guy, but I don’t know regular people who act like that.
