Computer class

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer a 12-hour computer class for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners starting on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Phillips Elementary School. Students need to register by Oct. 29 by calling the Adult Education Office at 678-2701, extension 226, or by e-mailing [email protected]

The class will run for three weeks from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $50, and the instructor is Tom Piekart.

Computers and computer programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Photoshop, MS Office and more will be covered as well as Internet and e-mail programs.

Lodge celebration

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will entertain the new district deputy president, Joleen Adley of Ponemah Rebekah Lodge of Canton, at a meeting Wednesday, Oct. 27, at its hall at 284 Federal Road. The meeting will start with a 12:30 p.m. luncheon, with dessert furnished. At the 1:30 p.m. meeting, a report of the annual Rebekah Assembly meeting held last week in Bangor will be given by the delegate, Noble Grand Frances Berry, and the new district deputy president will give the new assembly president’s program for the year ahead. There will also be an installation of officers who were not installed at the last meeting.

Volunteers sought

FARMINGTON – Volunteers are needed to help with the Franklin County Children’s Task Force’s Nurturing Parenting Program, to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting Oct. 27. Volunteers are also needed for their clothing exchange and other program areas. More information may be obtained by calling Jaylene at 778-6960 or by visiting the Task Force at 113 Church St.

Iona Community

WILTON – The international Iona Community, based in Scotland, will be the topic of a program at the First Congregational Church to be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the church on Main Street. The Iona Community is an ecumenical network committed to social justice and world peace, with members worldwide. The Rev. Doug Dunlap, pastor of First Congregational Church, who is an Iona member, will show a video filmed in Scotland that describes the history and mission of Iona. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments for the evening program will include make-your-own ice cream sundaes. Admission is free and all are welcome.
