WOODSTOCK – Selectmen on Tuesday changed their meeting dates from Nov. 2 and 16 to Nov. 18 and 30 because of conflicts with Election Day and workshops.
Town Manager Vern Maxfield said he had schedule conflicts.
“I really need to attend the workshops on the 16th and 17th,” he said. “Other than that it doesn’t matter to me when you plan to meet. You can pick dates that are convenient for you.”
Maxfield said he has received the most absentee ballots he has seen for many years.
“Two years ago I did 66 absentee ballots, and I’m already up to 94 at this time with another week to go,” he said.
In other business, Maxfield told the board that the new 2004 Sterling plow truck has now joined the fleet and is ready to go.
The truck came in during the past week from Fairfield Equipment Co. where it has been for the past month having the new plow gear and accessories installed.
Also, the highway crew plans to install the plow frame and other plow gear with the exception of the plow itself and any of the sanding equipment on the 1988 Ford so the vehicle will be ready in case of emergencies.
“None of the gear other than the plow frame and related gear, such as plow and sander, will be put on the truck so it can be used to haul gravel or be available for uses other than plowing,” Maxfield said.
He also announced that the fire department’s new air tanks have arrived and are ready for use. The cost of the tanks came in at $2,400, less than the $3,000 budgeted.
