LEWISTON – Everett P. Goodwin, 59, of Fair St., Lewiston died Sunday, Oct. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Lewiston on May 31, 1945, he was the son of Delwin F. Goodwin and Geraldine Oldham Goodwin. He attended local schools and joined the Navy after graduation. He later went to work locally at Sampson’s Supermarket and the Roak Block.

He was also caretaker of the historical Woman’s Literary Union for many years where his meticulous attention to detail was greatly appreciated.

He had a fondness for antique cars and had been a member of the street rod club, Rod Kustom Kruisers for many years.

His passion was taking the time to make every detail “just so” led him to be fondly nicknamed “Neveready” by members of the club. He also enjoyed spending time and talking to the patrons of Gilley’s Restaurant where he frequently ate.

Survivors include his mother, Geraldine Goodwin, of Mechanic Falls; two brothers, David Goodwin and his wife, Ann, Daniel Goodwin and his wife, Debbie, of Auburn; one sister, Linda Berube and her husband, Roland, of Auburn; he had married the late Sandra Gardner Goodwin Christmas Day 1977, and is survived by their grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, and Bailey Marquis, and their parents, Jeff and Tracey Marquis, of Greene, grandchildren, Lyndsey and Trevor Gardner, of Florida, and their parents, Scott and Sue Gardner, and his grandchildren, Craig, Cameron, and Chase Gardner, of Lewiston, and their parents, Jim and Jeannie Gardner; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Carlene Leclair.

He was predeceased by his father, sister, and wife.
