Why would any veteran or any other sane person anywhere in this great country even consider voting for George W. Bush and Dick Cheney?

Let’s forget for a moment that they have sent well over 1,000 men and women to their deaths in Iraq and are responsible for over 7,000 more being wounded, some severely.

Let’s forget for a moment that none of the Bush or Cheney daughters have volunteered to join the military. Hey, but it’s OK for someone else’s kid to die. Why don’t they serve in their daddy’s war?

Let’s forget for a moment that, in the the 2000 presidential campaign, Bush and the Republican machine worked to destroy another Vietnam veteran, John McCain. Now, he was a real fighter pilot.

Let’s forget for a moment that another war, the Vietnam War, was started by another Republican in 1957 and that war cost over 58,000 lives.

Let’s not forget that the two primary people who started this war shirked their responsibility during the Vietnam War. Dick “I had more important things to do” Cheney and George W. “I was a fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard” Bush.

I am a Vietnam veteran who volunteered for the draft, and I also volunteered for Vietnam and served a year over there. I also served in the Maine Army National Guard for seven years. I am voting for someone who didn’t shirk his responsibility and someone who also is a fellow Vietnam veteran – John F. Kerry.
