Halloween party
WILTON – A Halloween party will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Cushing School. Costume parade, crafts, photos, cookies to decorate and games for all children. Donations at the door will support programs of the Wilton Early Childhood Center.
Haunted House
RANGELEY – There will be a Haunted House from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, in the Conference Center at the Wilhelm Reich Museum. It is sponsored by Friends of the Wilhelm Reich Museum. The public is invited to make an attempt to get by Dracula in his coffin without waking him up, meet The Grave Digger, talk to a real Spook, see a witch fly by or maybe a ghost, and more. Those attending may come in costume. Admission is $3 per person. Refreshments will be on sale. For more information, phone the museum office at 864-3443.
Benefit dinner
JAY – Friends and family of Tony DeMillo will host a benefit dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the AmVets Hall. DeMillo is battling a serious illness. Raffle tickets are being sold from now until the supper. People who would like to donate an item for the raffle or who wish to purchase raffle tickets may contact Western Maine Family Health Center at 80 Main St., Livermore Falls. Benefit supper
WILTON – The annual benefit supper to support the Wilton Food Pantry will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the First Congregational Church on Main Street. Admission is by donation, and all funds collected will go toward purchase of items that are in short supply at the Food Pantry. The public is welcome. The Food Pantry serves hundreds of people each year in the Wilton area. It is supported by volunteers from the Wilton Ecumenical Ministry, which is a ministry of the First Congregational Church, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the Wilton United Methodist Church. The Food Pantry is at the Methodist Church on Main Street. Hours of service are from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday.
ATV Hay Ride
PHILLIPS – The first ATV hayride, sponsored by Narrow Gauge ATV Riders, The Zone and American Legion, will be held Sunday, Oct. 31, at the “Old Gym” and with refreshments served at the Legion Building. Free admission. Activities for children in grades kindergarten to four begin at 1 p.m. followed by a hayride for them at 1:30 p.m. For children in grades five to eight, activities begin at 1:45 p.m. with a hayride at 2:15 p.m. There will also be a costume contest and photos will be taken.
Washburn lecture
LIVERMORE – Kerck Kelsey, a Washburn descendant, will be at the Norlands Living History Center at noon Monday, Nov. 1, to speak about his new book, “Israel Washburn, Jr.: Maine’s Little-known Giant of the Civil War.” The book will be on sale for $18.50. Kerck’s presentation will be followed by a book signing. Proceeds will go to benefit the Washburn Norlands Living History Center. Monday Club
FARMINGTON – The Monday Club of Franklin County will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at the home of University of Maine at Farmington President Theo Kalikow on 204 Lake Ave. The speaker will be the author and UMF English Professor Elizabeth Cooke. She will speak about adopting a child from China and problems she has experienced in publishing her book on this topic. Members are invited to bring guests.
Clothes giveaway
JAY – A clothes giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 to Nov. 5 at the Jay Seventh-day Adventist Church at Route 4 and Oak Street across from Jay Plaza.
